The Dubai Bookmark Initiative is an attempt to help spread the message that reading books broadens our horizons. As a father, husband and career man, I am too time-starved to do what pleases me more often and reading books is one of those things in life which I really enjoy but rarely do I get the time to savour.
Hence the concept behind Dubai Bookmark Initiative. The initiative's goal is to gather enough support in order to use it as a lever with the local media and authorities for the introduction of a 'UAE National Day for Book Reading'.
By completing the following two-minute survey about recreational reading habits you would help The Dubai Bookmark Initiative get some traction and gather some momentum.

Book your place now...
It is most likely through sheer coincidence but I want to believe that it is due to fate, karma or masir if you prefer; it may be random, yet the odds of it happening were rather slim... For, while February 2014 signals my 20th anniversary as a PR professional, it is also during this very month that I fulfil one of my life's goals by (self)publishing my first book, on, what else, PR!
Two years in the making, I had to change the book's direction a few times just to keep up with the transformational changes happening around us every day in order to maintain its relevance.
And as I am counting the days before I hold my book's first copy, touch it, feel it and read it for the first time wrapped in its cover bearing my name and picture, I come across an article in today's newspapers predicting that more than 50 per cent of jobs are expected to be lost to artifical intelligence in the next ten years and that 40 per cent of the Fortune 500 companies will shut down by 2024.
The newspaper article stops short of listing the type of jobs or the names of the companies facing extinction, but my book doesn't! And instead of just spelling out the risk and the reasons that will make many of us in the marketing industry redundant, my book delves deeper to understand the solutions that would potentially save our roles.
But enough said, time for you to read my book. Watch this space for more details.
